BALLET

Ballet training is essential to a dancer's progress.  It teaches and improves coordination, flexibility, and musicality, as well as develops and strengthens the muscles.  Ballet class consists of barre and center work.

POINTE

Special classes are devoted to the technique "Sur Les pointes".  Students must have been enrolled in or taken previous ballet classes.  Pointe class may only be taken by recommendation of the instructor and approval from the Directors.

BEGINNER COMBO

These classes introduce young children to music and performing arts.  The program helps students develop listening and motor skills, body awareness, endurance, concentration, group cooperation and individual expression, coordination, and balance.  The dancer will be introduced to ballet, tap, and jazz. Recommended for ages 2 and up (Potty trained preferred)

JAZZ

Jazz training focuses on body placement and rhythmic movement.  Each class includes the proper technique in stretches, warm-ups, isolations, center work, turns, jumps, etc.  Emphasis is also placed on developing musicality, discipline and learning quality of movement.

TAP

Instructors teach a variety of tap styles with a strong emphasis on technique and performance.  Our tap training can begin as early as age 2, where students are introduced to elementary rhythms and use of body, legs, and feet in basic tap steps.  As students mature and progress, increasingly demanding technical exercises and complex routines are taught.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop classes provide an excellent workout (similar to aerobics) while having fun. Students learn rhythm, coordination, isolations, basic dance steps and put it all into a routine they can "show off" at recitals and competition.  This form of dance comes about from and is influenced by today's music and culture.

TECHNIQUE

CLOGGING

Clogging is a type of folk dance which involves striking the heel, the toe, or both against the floor or each other to create audible rhythms.  Teachers focus on a more modernized version of the classic clog and are done in time with the music.

TUMBLING (Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced)

Gymnastics floor work can be a great asset to any dancer or can be a lot of fun to learn all on its own.  The teachers will focus first on the basic elements and safety involved in tumbling and will continue to develop gymnastics skills according to the student's level.  Dancers will begin learning these skills on mats and will advance to performing their skills on the floor.

Strength / Flexibility

Designed to improve a dancer's range of motion, enhance muscle flexibility and increase their level of arm, core, and leg muscle strength.  Through a variety of stretches and conditioning exercises, a dancer will also increase their awareness of their own body's potential as it connects through movement.

CHARACTER / MUSICAL THEATER

A performance-based class focusing on jazz technique and skills instrumental in Broadway-style choreography.  Ballet and classical jazz exercises will be emphasized along with across the floor exercises that will develop a variety of turns and leaps.

WORKSHOPS & INTENSIVES

Every year during the summer school semester break, we offer weekly and/or monthly workshops and intensives.  Intensive classes are designed to set smaller goals and focus on what each dancer is trying to accomplish.  The summer workshops are designed to give each dancer a taste of several different dance styles and have a fun activity during the summer.  Many of our workshop/intensive classes are taught by talented, professional choreographers who work with famous musicians, bands, and TV/Music personalities.
